How They Work

What¡¯s a Hub Motor?
Electric bike or Scooters use an electric hub motor that is part of the rear wheel. Power comes from the four sealed batteries that are charged overnight with the automatic battery charger from a domestic 220v/110v power point.

The power is delivered to the motor via an electronic controller that regulates the amount of current the scooter needs for the job at hand.

Other than that, the bike or scooter looks and operates just like any others, except for the fact that it is quiet, smooth, and there is no need to ¡°start¡± the motor. Just turn the key and twist the throttle.

What is a Controller?
All electric vehicles have an electronic ¡°black box¡± that interprets the signal from the throttle (the low current side of the controller) to then control the voltage and current that needs to be sent to the motor (the high current side).
Batteries
The batteries in bikes or scooters are sealed maintenance free batteries specially designed for cyclic use. They will last for many times full cycles. This means that if they are looked after with proper charging, they will last for something between 15,000 and 18,000 kms*.

As new battery technology enters the market, it¡¯s a simple task to replace the current generation of batteries with newer ones. Your scooter will run on any batteries as long as they produce the correct voltage output.see our different batteries power supply. Charger
Our scooters come with an ¡°Intelligent¡± charger that reads the state of the battery as it charges. This charger prevents over charging of the battery, even if left on for extended periods. The chargers can be plugged into any 220/110 volt outlet.

Charging batteries is the key to battery life and performance. Batteries left in a discharged state for extended periods will shorten the life of the battery and interfere with its performance.
